Our Kura PhilosophyThe philosophy of Te Kura o Kokohuia is Te Tunga Ahurei. This is about the 'Kokohuia way, the Kokohuia beliefs and the Kokohuia unique stance'. Today it is our kumete mohio containing the following components; Te Arapikinga ki nga Taonga Tuku Iho'Me hoki ki nga paiaka...', na Rangitihi Tahuparae. These outline a number of cultural competencies/ traditional knowledge and skills that tauira should be taught and/ or exposed to. This is returning back to our Maori rootstock. Access to Maori cognition by utilising traditional knowledge, skills and customs, practises, values, beliefs, attitudes as the foundation, to view the rest of the world. Kaupapa AtuaThe Te Kura o Kokohuia planning process: Kaupapa Atua is the kura three year plan that provides the Atua foci across four terms. Within each atua is a range of kaupapa covering the nine curriculum learning areas in Te Marautanga o Aotearoa. Eg: Putaiao, Tikanga a Iwi, Hauora, Toi, Te Reo Maori, Pangarau, Hangarau, Te Reo Pakeha. Rere Runga RawaA self-directed learning process where students acquire knowledge and skills to facilitate their own learning. Taking responsibility for their own behaviour. Kura-a-WahoThis is an authentic learning approach for tauira to develop relationships with local, national and international marae, and the environment. PurongoA unique way of informing matua and caregivers about the progress of their tamaiti aligned to Te Arapikinga ki nga Taonga tuku iho. By working together as a whanau, we believe the graduates of our kura will be; Te Kura o Kokohuia Iwi Graduate - Te Taura Whatoro
